Express Presentation of Photography Books in Sant Josep és Foto
Two days, three islands, four looks and the same language: the photobook.

The Sant Josep és Foto festival hosts a special event dedicated to photobooks, a space where image and narrative merge to offer new perspectives on photography and society. During two days, authors and public will meet in a participatory environment to discover six works that stand out for their creativity and thematic depth.

An encounter with photography and words

Fotolibro Express is held over two days with a strong Balearic character. This edition focuses on the ability of the photobook to build a story from the proximity, territory and memory, bringing together authors and works that dialogue from Menorca, Mallorca and Ibiza. Two meetings to discover very different publications, but united by the same desire: to look at the islands from within, from their nuances, their tensions and their imaginaries.

Two days full of inspiration

The first day will be dedicated to three contemporary authors from the islands. From Menorca will come Cristian P. Coll with Camins and Davis Arquimbau with Sant Lluís no és Misourri, two works that, from different registers, bring us closer to an insular look rooted in the territory, identity and experience of the place. From Mallorca, Enric Calafell will present Madagascar, expanding the conversation towards another way of narrating the world through the photobook.

The second day will be a tribute to Toni Pomar, Ibizan photographer born in Eivissa in 1960, whose career is part of the contemporary visual history of the island. His work has been able to convert nearby landscapes, everyday objects and fragments of the environment in a photographic language of his own, attentive to light, form and the transformation of reality. He has published, among others, the books Eivissa as New York (1990), made together with Toni Roca; Ibiza. The stone ship (1991), with text by Antonio Colinas; and Alfabet (1999), a key work for understanding a poetic and deeply personal view of the visible world.

With this double session, Fotolibro Express 2026 also becomes a space of recognition: to the current Balearic creation and to an essential figure of photography made in Ibiza. An invitation to think of the photobook not only as an editorial object, but also as a form of memory, exploration and permanence.

At the end of each day, attendees will be able to talk with the authors, purchase copies and enjoy a cultural legacy that will be reinforced with the donation of each book to the municipal library of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia.
