Landscapes of Ibiza brings together three series by Anton Calpagiu -sunsets, night photography and landscapes in manipulated snapshots- constructed from a gaze focused on the change of light. Far from an immediate vision of the landscape, the author approaches the island when the day falls and the forms begin to lose definition. The result is a quieter, more intimate and material Ibiza, in which photography not only records, but also interprets, transforms and leaves a mark.

About the Photographer:

Anton Calpagiu (Focșani, Romania, December 14, 1967) has been developing his photographic work in Ibiza since 2015. His practice traverses the transition from digital photography to analog and instantaneous processes, in a research focused on the materiality of the image and the physical dimension of the photographic device. The construction of his own cameras is part of this approach, in which technique, experimentation and gaze are articulated as inseparable elements of his work.
